Thomas Sharp Suspended for Improper Borrowing from Customer

FINRA suspended and fined former Ameriprise Financial broker Thomas David Sharp of Folsom, California for improperly borrowing from a firm customer, a practice prohibited by Ameriprise's written supervisory procedures.

According to the findings, Thomas Sharp (CRD #1623353) borrowed $27,500 from an Amerirprise customer in violation of firm procedures as well as FINRA rules.

Ameriprise in 2024 terminated Sharp for the misconduct, writing that he violated firm policy relative to commingling funds.

A pair of complaints in Sharp's BrokerCheck record alleges he recommended unsuitable real estate investment trusts (REITs) and made false representations.

Both of these disputes settled for a combined $183,000 while a previous award/judgment listed in Sharp's file resulted in a $31,000 compensatory damages award.
