FINRA barred ex-Farmers Financial Solutions broker James Elroy Burton during an investigation into sales of promissory notes linked to investments in crypto asset funds and programs. According to Burton (CRD #5051310)'s BrokerCheck file, Farmers terminated Burton for failing to disclose investment in a private securities transactions as an outside activity, while a customer alleged Burton sold promissory notes for Jazzberry Digital Solutions, an outside business activity, allegedly sold away from Farmers Financial.
The regulator alleged that while James Burton initially cooperated with the investigation process into his involvement in the promissory note sales related to a company that purported to invest in cryptocurrency and crypto assets, he ultimately refused to provide requested documents and information to FINRA.
A pending customer dispute alleges Burton failed to disclose risks and facts of purchasing Jazzberry Digital Solutions, Inc. non-registered promissory notes, resulting in losses for the complainant. The dispute alleges Burton failed to disclose this outside business activity to the firm while selling Jazzberry notes away from Farmers, to the tune of $110,000 in damages.
